Two men were Monday arraigned in a Berbice court for the murder of businessman Davindra “Dave” Deodat at his Corentyne home one week ago, police said.

Those charged are 27-years old Ramnarine Jagmohan of Hampshire Squatting Area, Corentyne and 23-years old Neshan Jagmohan of Belvedere Squatting Area, Corentyne.

They appeared in the Albion Magistrates’ Court and were remanded to prison until November 3. The Jagmohans were among six persons who were arrested shortly after the robbery-murder.

Deodat was shot dead in his home at Hampshire Squatting Area on October 7 during the course of a robbery. His wife was chopped to her head and her father, Rafeek Abdul, was shot to his right arm.

Police then said that the robbers had stolen GUY$560,000.00, one gold band, a laptop computer and one cell phone.

Investigators said that after Deodat’s daughter raised an alarm, he intervened and was shot to his chest.

Deodat operated a fleet of trucks under the trade name “Cool Runnins”.
