A man, who assaulted his wife after she read a text message he had received from another woman, was fined after the victim begged for him.

City Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan fined 38-year old Keith Azore GUY$5,000 and placed him and his wife, Christine Azore, on a one-year bond to keep the peace.

The prosecution’s case was that on August 10 at their residence located at 94 East La Penitence, Georgetown, the man assaulted his wife.

The court was told that after Christine had read the message and confronted him, he remained quiet. When she sat on his lap, he pushed her off  and dealt her several slaps and cuffs.

Keith pleaded guilty, but his wife – whose body bore visible marks of violence-, begged for him and said she would not lead any evidence in the matter. She also requested counselling for her husband.

He explained that he had been consoling a friend in a text message because her friend committed suicide.

The couple has three children.
