35 arrested, stolen items, guns and ammo found

The handguns and ammunition that police recovered from a house in Albouystown.

Thirty five persons have been arrested and several items suspected to have been stolen have been recovered, police said.

Police said that during Wednesday, 24 men were arrested during cordon and search operations in Kitty, Leopold Street and East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

The offences that that they have allegedly committed include possession and trafficking in narcotics and armed robberies. Two motor cycles that are suspected to have been stolen were seized.

And a similar operation in Sophia on Thursday resulted in the arrest of 10 men. They were being questioned in connection with burglaries and armed robberies.  A laptop computer that was reported stolen was recovered, police added.

Police also Thursday arrested a man in connection with the discovery of two handguns in a house at Bel Air Street, Albouystown. Seized were one .38 Taurus revolver with six  rounds and one  .357  Magnum revolver with three rounds.
