Two Customs Officers are among four persons arrested for the discovery of a bag at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport with more than 20 pounds of cocaine, officials said.

Customs Officer Anthony Thomas surrendered to the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) in the company of his lawyer one day after a wanted bulletin was issued for him.

The other Customs Officer, who was on duty during the drug-find on Saturday afternoon shortly before a New York-bound flight was due to depart, was taken into CANU by colleague officers on Monday.

Though Thomas was not on duty at the time, investigators said he had stayed on at the airport, said authorities.

One baggage handler and one security agent have been also arrested.

CANU agents had placed the bag under surveillance but agents decided to seize it after no one had taken possession of it.

Investigators have said that the bag was taken at the back of the terminal building in the baggage area to be sneaked on Caribbean Airlines flight BW 526 which was scheduled to depart at 3:50 PM.
