LIAT continuing Guyana-Barbados flights

LIAT on Saturday explained that its daytime flights between Guyana and Barbados are continuing as normal while the two night-time flights that have been cancelled will resume on August 1.

LIAT spokesman, Desmond Brown told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) that flight LI 521 is scheduled to depart Barbados at 12:30 pm and arrive in Guyana at 2:30 PM. Then flight LI 512 leaves Guyana at 3 PM and arrives at 5 PM.These two daytime flights will land and depart from the Ogle International Airport.

The night-time flights that have been cancelled will be reinstated on August 1 to and from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport. They are LI 773 leaves Barbados at 8 PM and arrives in Guyana at 10 PM and the LI 774 leaves Guyana at 5 AM and arrives 7 AM.

Passengers booked to travel on these services are asked call their local LIAT office or the LIAT Call Centre from Antigua – 1-268-480-5582; toll free from the rest of the Caribbean – 1-888-844-5428 and from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands – 1-866-549-5428 for information on the status of their flights.

When making a reservation for travel to Guyana, customers are advised to be aware that OGL represents the Ogle International Airport and GEO the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

The closer proximity of the Ogle International Airport to the Guyana capital, Georgetown, is expected to give LIAT a competitive advantage since flying into Ogle would mean Reduced Flying Time and an annual fuel reduction for the airline.
