A high-level official of the Region Three (Essequibo Islands- West Demerara) administration is being accused of sexual misconduct with a female officer, according to usually reliable sources.

The official was Tuesday released on station bail after giving investigators an oral statement. He planned to submit a written statement shortly, police said.

Police sources said the 37-year old woman alleged that the official put his hand in her blouse and fondled her breast on June 18. Sources said the woman told police that she had gone to him with a voucher when he allegedly committed the act and said “your time is due.”

Investigators visited the crime scene at the Region Three administration on Tuesday.

Police and other sources familiar with the accused are somewhat doubtful that the official might have committed the act because there are “some management issues” at the Region Three administration.

Sources said the woman decided to report the matter to the police last week Friday after she got no satisfaction from the Regional Chairman, Deputy Regional Executive Officer and the Personnel Officer. According to the sources, all they told the woman was “that is a serious matter.”

Meanwhile, police are unable to contact Vanisha Seenauth- the woman who alleged that Robeson Benn Jr. assaulted her late last month at her city residence. The two had been in a relationship for about one year after, according to her, she decided to quit because he had physically abused her several times.
