Two sisters gang raped

Two sisters were allegedly gang-raped by three men at their Hadfield Street, Lodge home from where one of the perpetrators fired gunshots at one of the girl’s partners, residents said.

Sources at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) confirmed that the girls, 18 and 24 years, were taken to the health care institution during the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday.

Residents in the area told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) that when one of the girl’s boyfriend arrived around 1 AM, one of the men fired at least two shots at him.

Residents said that when the boyfriend arrived, he heard a commotion and pelted a brick on the roof, a move that might have incensed the men.

According to the sources, the man took cover and eventually fled the scene in a taxi he drives for a Georgetown-based taxi service.

He then summoned police but the suspects eluded the lawmen who had gone to a number of homes in the area in search of the perpetrators. The man also arranged for the girls, who were in a serious condition, to be rushed to the GPHC.

Up to late Thursday night, the Guyana Police Force did not release a statement on the incident.
