Moses Nagamootoo speaks about death squads, mechanism for PPP choosing presidential candidate, shared governance PDF Print E-mail

Moses Nagamootoo speaks about death squads, mechanism for PPP choosing presidential candidate, shared governanceProspective Presidential candidate for the incumbent Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPP), Moses Nagamootoo is calling for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

This is the first that a senior party member has acknowledged that Janet Jagan was the de facto PPP leader, ending years of denial by many others such as that she was a "private citizen."

In this week's edition of Periscope on Politcs, Mr Nagamootoo says that now that the Jagans have gone, it's now time for a new mechanism to choose the presidential candidate. Other openly interested contenders are Donald Ramotar, Clement Rohee and Ralph Ram Karran.

Nagamootoo, however, rejected President Bharrat Jagdeo's contention that the existing mechansim would be used to choose the candidate.

Political Scientist, Professor David Hinds says the PPP is a changed political party from a political progressive movement to a political machinery.

Hinds dismissed in-house Political Commentator, Lloyd King's prediction that Mr Nagamootoo will get a large support from a Congress Floor to become the PPP's candidate. Mr Hinds argues that the popularity for the party-executive differs from that of a presidential candidate because he may be perceived as someone who is willing to work closer with Blacks.

He also talked about the alleged involvement of death-squads and convicted cocaine trafficker, Roger Khan in hunting down heavily armed gangs.

While denying that he would use these shady characters, he said that he would use "unconventional means' to fight crime.

Professorn Hinds says Mr Nagamootoo is speaking to two different audiences.

Indeed, what is said is the fact. This longstanding freedom fighter has been railroaded from the Presidency when Dr. CBJ died.
The fact is coning out in Joey's comment today.
Why is Joey so afraid to spill the fact?

Mr. Nagamootoo has made a comprehensive analysis of the situations that existed in Guyana at that time. People should put themselves in his situation and ask themselves what would they would do in such a situation. Mr. Nagamootoo is THE best candidate to propel our country forward. LET US ALL SUPPORT HIM IN HIM FOR PRESIDENT.

To politely but firmly throw my 2 cents worth(among learned folks)into the ring of PPP's Presidential Candidate selection, I take delight in Dr Hinds's interest in the matter. I've enjoyed his writings since his Caribbean Daylight days. My 'considered choice' has to be Mr Moses Nagamootoo. I know for a fact that he is the only Candidate that has 'Guyana at Heart" & not a selfish motive.

Training in the back-dams and on the seashore with sticks pretending they were guns? What was the imminent threat?

Mr. Nagamootoo is a progressive political thinker and it is because of this that he will not be the presidential candidate of the PPP. He was not able to convince them to embrace him in the inner sanctum of the party when JJ was alive! Do you think that he can get them to do so now? Yu gat anada guess cummin!

my take on the choice of the ppp presidential candidate is that the mostly favoured 'in-house' man will be chosen, and Cde Naga though able, is surely not among the chosen.however because of the structure of the party's constitution whoever is chosen will be sucessful whether he is endowed with the ability to lead or not [ some may say this is wrong, but thats the stark reality]
