Security guard killed during burglary; pedal cyclist dies in road accidentPolice are probing the killing of a watchman and the death of a pedal cyclist, in two separate and un-related incidents.

No one has been arrested in connection with the homicide but the driver of the motor car has been arrested. He could be charged shortly with causing death by dangerous driving.

Police spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker said watchman, Carl Nelson Bollers,57, of South Sophia was stabbed several times while on duty at the Mercy Wing Vacation Centre, South Sophia.

That incident occurred around 1:00 am on Sunday.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where he "succumbed" to his injuries, police said.

The canteen of the centre was broken into and a quantity of confectionery stolen.

In the case of the fatal accident, pedal cyclist, Somail Ramsingh,18, of Number 11 Village, West Coast Berbice was killed around 9:40 pm Saturday on the Number 12 Village Public Road.

Police said Ramsingh allegedly rode across the road "into the path of" the vehicle and was struck down by car PLL 7837.

He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Firstly, thanks for this medium. Policing is hard work made harder by limited resources, therefore, the help of the public is paramount. However, this help should be treated as important and not just given lip service.
