A 62-year old woman early Tuesday morning perished in a fire of unknown origin at Canal Number 2, West Bank Demerara, authorities said.

Dead is Bibi Saqrkhami.

She was the lone occupant of the house at the time of the blaze which occurred around around 1:50 am.

A fire-tender from West Ruimveldt Fire Station- the closest to Canal Number Two- responded to the fire-call from the predominantly agricultural community.
