Police were Monday morning mobilizing a team to go to the East Coast Demerara back-lands to hunt down and capture a cane-cutter who allegedly chopped his  ex partner several times about her body and her left hand severed.

“We have information that he is in the back-lands,” East Coast Demerara Divisional Commander, Senior Superintendent Kevin Adonis told Demerara Waves Online News. The cutlass has not yet been recovered by investigators.

Injured is policewoman, Alana Hazel. Police are looking for the alleged perpetrator, Warren Dennis.

Adonis said he was told that emergency surgery was conducted on the mother of three to mend chop wounds to her back, face, head and hand. He said she was removed from the theatre.

The incident occurred at about 10:45 Sunday night at Quamina Road, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.

Demerara Waves Online News was told that Dennis and Hazel have been separated for some time now, and although she is in a relationship with another person she visited Dennis’ home.

Neighbours reported that Dennis and Hazel were in a heated argument after which she was heard screaming.

This is not the first time for the year that a domestic dispute has resulted in the death of persons at Beterverwagting. Earlier this year, a man was believed to have burnt his house with himself, his partner and their toddler.
