The man, who allegedly chopped his ex partner about her body,  Monday evening surrendered, police said

East Coast Demerara Divisional Commander said the key suspect walked into the Sparendaam Police station, accompanied by his brother.

Dennis, a cane-cutter, chopped police constable Alana Hazel about her body and slashed off the woman’s left hand.

The incide occurred at about 10:45 Sunday night at Quamina Road, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.

His arrest came several hours after police had mobilized a team to search foe Dennis in the East Coast Demerara back-lands.

Demerara Waves Online News was told that Dennis and Hazel have been separated for some time now, and although she is in a relationship with another person she visited Dennis’ home.

Neighbours reported that Dennis and Hazel were in a heated argument after which she was heard screaming.

Hazel, who is attached to the Police Officers’ Mess, underwent emergency surgery up to early Monday morning.

This is not the first time for the year that a domestic dispute has resulted in the death of persons at Beterverwagting. Earlier this year, a man was believed to have burnt his house with himself, his partner and their toddler.
