Prohibited Guyanese among 26 arrested in Trinidad

TRINIDAD EXPRESS.- Police exercises in the Port of Spain Division and Central Division on Thursday have resulted in the arrest of 26 persons.

The exercises were supervised by Senior Supt Hodge-Griffith and Senior Supt Boxill, with assistance from Supt Corbette, ASP Persad, ASP Sooker, Sgt Jodhan, Sgt Persad, Sgt Mohammed, Sgt Ali, Cpl Bacchus, Cpl Bassant and Cpl Williams, among several others.

In Port of Spain, officers conducted several searches in the Laventille district, where a number of persons were arrested for narcotics possession.

One man, said to be from Guyana, was even held under suspicion of being a prohibited immigrant.

In Chaguanas, 11 persons were held on a variety of offences, including assault and robberies.

Several other persons were held on outstanding warrants.

The exercises were conducted as part of the continuing “zero-tolerance” approach adopted by the Police Service.
