Guyana’s external debt has been pegged at GYD $236 billion and domestic debt at GYD $81.7 billion, according to Guyana’s Public Debt Management Report.
The Guyana government says the first annual report on Public Debt Management has been completed by the Finance Ministry and would be soon tabled in the National Assembly.
Minister of State Joseph Harmon said the report by the Finance Ministry’s Debt Management Division is in keeping with international best practices by the World Bank.
“It was felt that the report promotes transparency and good governance in debt management,” Harmon said.
The Public Debt Report is not required by Guyana’s laws.
