Fmr. Chief-of-Staff Collins to probe illegal plane in Guyana

President David Granger has mandated that a Commission of Inquiry be established to investigate, examine, advise and report on all the circumstances under which a foreign aircraft entered Guyana.

The twin-engine Cessna plane was discovered under a canopy of thick vegetation near the village of Yupukari, Upper Essequibo-Upper Takutu on September 13, 2016.

The Ministry of the Presidency said Brigadier Edward Collins has been identified and appointed as Commissioner and will be sworn in Wednesday before Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan.

It is expected that a Preliminary Report will be submitted on October 17, 2016 and the Final report will be submitted on November 16, 2016.

Authorities have already ascertained that the plane was bearing a fake United States registration number.

This is not the first time that illegal planes have been found in Guyana’s interior.

Another Commission of Inquiry? An illegal plane in Guyana requires law enforcement officers to investigate, not a COI!

In how many ways can a plane enter any country? Yes, by submarine?

This COI is so ridiculous!!!!The lives of SGT Pyle and spouse appears to be forgotten by Granger…a soldier left behind by his own!!!!…incompetence in protecting airstrips by this govt…two planes “stolen from Ogle” recently…The recommendation is to secure all such areas… Darn!..bloody idiots !
