NCN appoints new CEO

Guyana’s state-owned radio and television broadcaster, National  Communications Network (NCN), on Friday announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.

The company issued the following statement, saying that Lennox Cornette would assume duties. He previously worked at the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company and Conservation International.

The statement reads:

As part of its revitalising of the state-run National Communications Network, the Board of Directors of NCN has
completed its first round of recruitment to identify a new management team to take the company forward.

After a successful first round of interviews Mr. Lennox Cornette emerged the best candidate for the CEO’s position based on his diverse communication, financial and executive management background.

His appointment and Chief Executive Officer will take effect from May 1, 2016. Mr. Cornette will succeed Ms.Molly Hassan who assumed the post of CEO from May, 2014.

Mr. Cornette who is a Communication Consultatnt, holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences (Mass Communications), a Diploma in Public Communication and  Certificates in Planning and Promotion from Bailbrook College, England.

His work experience includes engagements with both the local and international private sector in the fields of
Communication and Management. His last position was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Jaling Forest Industries Inc. where he was in charge of administration and operations.

He is the author of the book “The Development of Telecommunications in Guyana (1884-1994).
