Crum-Ewing probe deepens: Cops nab Kwame McCoy

Another People’s Progressive Party (PPP)  activist and former Communications Liaison Officer in the Office of the President Kwame McCoy has been arrested by police in connection with the assassination of political activist Courtney Crum-Ewing.

McCoy would be the second PPP activist to be arrested in a matter of days, as Jason Abdulla an employee at PPP’s Freedom House has also been arrested.

Police have confirmed that McCoy surrendered himself to the police after a visit was paid to his home by officers.

Self-confessed death squad member Shawn Hinds has also been arrested in connection with the murder.

Just over two months before Guyana held General elections in 2015; Crum-Ewing was shot whilst calling for persons to head out to the polls on May 11, in Diamond Housing Scheme.

Crum-Ewing had become known for staging a one man protest that lasted nearly 100 days outside of the Office of Former Attorney General Anil Nandlall.

I recall writing letters to both SN and KN citing a December 2014 interview in Inews online news that featured Crum-Ewing naming Kwame McCoy as threatening Crum-Ewing’s life. McCoy, when asked to respond, denied making the threat but did note that Crum-Ewing was protesting as part of some sort promise he made right after he was fired from the army for wrongdoing.

I don’t recall the letter being published, but lazy journalism did not see the need to find out why Crum-Ewing was really fired from the army or how McCoy knew this. Only after a change of government McCoy is suddenly more than a person of interest, as per media reports.

Look, according to New York court testimony, the night Ronald Waddell was murdered, a self confessed participant in the murder revealed that the killer group went to a bar on Sheriff Street where they told Roger Khan, who then placed a call to Health Minister, Leslie Ramsammy.

There is another clue for this coalition government to work with in trying to solve another extra-judicial killing.
