A Canada-based Guyanese man and a tattoo artist were Tuesday afternoon burnt to death when the car they were travelling in exploded during a collision at Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice.

Dead are 48-year old Shiv Hanoman and 22-year old Nehru Bankay of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.

Four other persons who were in the other car that was involved in the collision were in a critical condition. They are 32-year old Fiona Rasool, 41-year old Phyllis Corlette, 48-year old Rookmin Sukhlall and Carmen Marks. The driver of the hire car, Nigel Trotz, was treated for a broken leg and abrasions about his body.

Investigators were told that at about 1:30 PM, a BMW car bearing license number PJJ 699 was heading in an easterly direction when it overtook a truck and slammed into car that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The charred remains of Hanoman were later removed from the BMW convertible car.
