Two arraigned for robbing America St. money-changers

Two men were Monday arraigned for robbing two ‘money-changers’ on America Street of large sums of cash earlier this month.

Troy Abrams and Anthony Primo, 30, of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charges after they were read by Chief Magistrate, Ann Mc Lennan. They were refused bail and remanded to prison until December 11, 2015.

Particulars of the offence are that on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at America Street, Georgetown, being armed with a gun they robbed Rayburn Fraser of cash GUY$520,000, US$3,000, Trinidad and Tobago (TT) $2,000 and Suriname (SRD) $2,000, together valued GUY $1.6 M. They are also accused of, being armed with a gun, robbung Osafa Bourne of GUY $400,000 and US $700.

The prosecution successfully opposed bail, citing the gravity of the offences.

The unrepresented men begged for a speedy trial, saying they could account for their whereabouts at the time of the incident in which millions of dollars were grabbed from several money changers in less than 10 minutes.
