President to attend South America-Arab summit

Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and President David Granger in brief conversation Sunday, November 11, 2015, one day before the Guyanese leader was due to travel to Saudi Arabia for the 4th Summit of the South America and Arab countries (ASPA).

President David Granger is Monday expected to lead a three-member delegation to Saudia Arabia for the 4th Summit of the South America and Arab countries (ASPA).

The Ministry of the Presidency says he will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister, Carl Greenidge and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Audrey Waddell.

The summit is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The summit is a bi-regional mechanism for cooperation and political coordination, held every three years, which gathers the 22 member states of the Arab League and 12 countries of South America to promote mutually beneficial relations.

The delegation from Guyana is being flown to Riyadh, courtesy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said the Ministry of the Presidency.
