City Magistrate, Ann Mc Lennan remanded 38-year old Onica Williams to prison until October 29 when she would appear at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court.
Williams, of 2518 Layou Street, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to being in possession of 58 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking on October 13, 2015 at Cuyuni.
Defence lawyer, Peter Hugh told the court that the alleged drug find was not made on his client’s person but in a brown scotch tape on a mosquito net in the camp which was occupied by several persons.
However, when the police searched the camp he said the other persons had left for work.
Police Prosecutor, Deniro Jones told the Court that Williams had voluntarily allowed the police to search the camp.
