A former policeman, who was previously charged with robbery and attempted murder, was shot late Thursday night.

An unlicensed .38 revolver with three rounds were recovered nearby, leading police to speculate that the man was unable to draw the weapon promptly when he was attacked.

Injured is 23-year old Desmond Mc Pherson of Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.

Police said that at about 11:15 PM Thursday July 30, 2015, Mc Pherson was found on the roadway in the vicinity of the Turning Point Bridge, Tuc-Ville, with suspected bullet wounds to his chest.

He has been admitted to hospital.

Mc Pherson has been charged several times with robbery, discharging a loaded firearm during the course of a robbery, attempted robbery and break-and-enter.
