Two knife-wielding mini-bus robbers were arrested Sunday at Pouderoyen shortly after stabbing and attempting to rob a gold miner on the West Bank Demerara.

“Public spirited citizens who were in the vicinity responded and went to the assistance of the victim and arrested the perpetrators after a short chase. They were both handed over to the police and are in custody,” police said in a statement.

The men had travelled in the same vehicle with the man from Georgetown.

Injured is gold miner 25-year old Clint Gunput of Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.

Investigators were told that he was attacked at about 2:30 PM Sunday by the men as he exited a minibus on the Pouderoyen Public Road.

Gunput sustained stab wounds to his body during the attack and has been admitted to the Georgetown Hospital Corporation for medical treatment.
