An employee of the Department of Culture, Youth and Sport was among several persons arrested in connection with the death of a middle-age man Saturday afternoon as a result of a road accident on the Essequibo Coast.

Dead is Derek “Pudding” Glasgow of Queenstown, Essequibo Coast. He was a labourer.

Eyewitnesses said he was walking along the Queenstown Public Road when he was struck down by a speeding car bearing license  plate PMM 6118.

Among the occupants of the car was Instructor at the New Opportunity Corps of the Department of Culture Youth and Sport, Biseshuar Ramnauth.

It was not immediately clear whether he was driving the car at the time of the accident, but he is said to be the owner of the vehicle. Ramnauth and the other occupants had moments earlier left a ‘wedding house’ at Affiance, Essequibo Coast.
