A man previously implicated in murders and robbery was early Sunday morning gunned down through his bedroom window, leaving behind his seriously injured  fiancée and their 18-month old son.

Police described the dead man, 26-year old Travis Rudder, as a gold miner.

The incident occurred at 1:40 AM Sunday, June 21, 2015 at their Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara home.Injured are his  fiancée Mawanza Gill and their son, Travis Rudder Jr.

Investigators said shots were discharged through the bedroom window of their residence.

Crime scene detectives recovered at least twenty-six  9MM caliber spent shells. “It was a hit. They definitely wanted him,” a senior police officer told Demerara Waves Online News.

They were rushed to a city hospital where Rudder Snr. was pronounced dead on arrival and Gill and Rudder Jr. were admitted. Investigations are in progress.

Rudder’s checkered past dates back to 2007 when he was 21 years old and had been accused of murdering his 14-year old girlfriend Donnis King.  He was freed of that murder charge in December 2011.

He had been also jointly charged with the murder of a cooking gas deliveryman, the attempted murder of an ex-policeman and a gunpoint robbery.
