Two days after shady character, Manu Durant, was gunned down at a city strip club, his suspected killer was arrested near the Guyana- Venezuela border.

Police said the suspect was caught at Eteringbang, Cuyuni River on Saturday, June 6, 2015. “He is in police custody assisting with the investigations,” police said in a statement.

Durant,40, was shot and killed during an altercation with another man on June 4, 2015 at Baroombar Club, North Road, Georgetown. He was rushed to the nearby Balwant Singh Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Durant, of Atlantic Ville, East Coast Demerara, fired a number of shots at the man but they missed him. The man then retaliated by whipping out his pistol and pumping several shots at Durant who had been attacked several times in the past.

In 2008 Durant was wanted by police in connection with the disappearance of Tenisha Morgan, the girlfriend of late gang leader Rondell ‘Fineman’ Rawlins. He was later cleared after surrendering to police.

Six years earlier in 2002, he escaped a deadly attack by gunmen in Buxton, East Coast Demerara.

Durant’s last known close shave with death was in 2009 when one of two men on a motorcycle shot him behind his  right ear while he was standing outside a night club in Kitty, Georgetown.
