An overseas-based Guyanese was Friday afternoon busted with more than six kilogrammes of cocaine in rum in bogus duty-free bags at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, according to well-placed sources.

Twenty-one year old Keon Brewster, who was booked to travel on a Dynamic Airways flight to New York, has since identified two air condition technicians who allegedly gave him the coke-in-rum.

Police said the bust was made at about 4 PM Friday when ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch arrested the man with 6.304 kilogrammes of cocaine in bottles of rum that were in his possession.

The technicians, who are employed by a private company to maintain the air condition systems at the airport, have since been arrested.

Sources believed that the coke-in-rum was handed over by the technicians in one of the airport washrooms where surveillance cameras cannot be installed.;

Airport security personnel first recognized that something was amiss when they saw that the duty free bag had no seal and more so he had been already in possession of it at the boarding gate.
