Bagotville suspected wife killer arrested

The man, who allegedly stabbed his wife to death at their West Bank Demerara home less than one week ago, was Tuesday morning arrested in Sophia, a senior police officer confirmed.

Head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Assistant Commissioner Leslie James said Alan Barker was arrested in ‘A’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

He did not resist arrest.

Barker is considered a prime suspect in the murder of his wife, 28-year old wife,  Donessa ‘Nadine’ Barker at their Bagotville, West Bank Demerara om April 30, 2015.

The Crime Chief recalled that investigators were told that the woman was seen leaving the bedroom and collapsed  near the front door. She sustained  at least eight stab wounds to her neck and other parts of her body.

A friend, who was there, reported seeing the husband leaving the bedroom through a window.

Police sources say the woman had made a report that her husband had threatened to kill her.
