Opposition Leader David Granger and candidate Cathy Hughes.

Guyana’s opposition coalition A Partnership for National Unity+ Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) participated in the first Candidate Issues Session at which several issues were addressed.

Held on Tuesday, April 13, 2015; the well-attended forum at the Theatre Guild heard from presidential candidate, David Granger and AFC women’s rights activist, Cathy Hughes.

They addressed issues such as taxation, homosexuality in the military, codes of conduct for elected officials, education, and entrepreneurship.

The Candidate Issues Sessions are a collaborative effort of civil society organizations led by the Guyana Women’s Roundtable (GWR) & the Guyana National Youth Council (GNYC).

The forums provide the candidates of the two main political parties a platform to address youth and women issues.

A number of questions were sent by email, while attendees at the guild asked questions from the floor.
