An eight year old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle and she was suffering from severe bleeding, authorities confirmed.
The names of the child and the alleged perpetrator are being withheld to protect her identity in keeping with the Sexual Offences Act.
Senior police sources said the man has not been arrested. “Checks were made for him but he left the jurisdiction,” a police officer told Demerara Waves Online News.
The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at Six Miles, Arakaka, a mining district in north-western Guyana.
She was admitted to the Arakaka Hospital and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for further treatment. Authorities said her condition was listed as stable.
