18 soldiers injured in road accident

Eighteen soldiers were Thursday morning injured in an collision between a truck and a bus on the Garden of Eden Public Road, East Bank Demerara, a high-ranking officer of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) said.

Three of them sustained broken bones and were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).  Hospital sources said 27-year old John Flores sustained a broken right hand and 33-year old Romel Rampersaud’s right leg was broken. The name of the other soldier was not immediately available.

Fifteen others were taken to the Diamond Hospital where they were being treated for minor injuries.

The GDF officer said the bus was taking the soldiers to Timehri for a training activity when it collided with a truck.gdf truck
