Armed burglars rob Survival Supermarket; one suspect caught

A suspect in the Survival Supermarket burglary

Armed bandits early Wednesday morning struck Survival Supermarket on Sheriff Street, Campbelville, carting off a large undisclosed sum of cash, police said.

As two of the robbers fled with the cash, they opened fire in the direction of the owner, Parshuram Arjune, who rushed to the scene after he was alerted by guards.

A third robber was caught by security guards on duty and handed over to police.

The incident occurred about 5 AM.

A Caribbean News Desk reporter, who was on the scene, was told that the robbers cut a fence and climbed a stairs at the side of the building to the upper flat of the building. There, they entered the supermarket’s main office from which they stole the money and other valuables.
