Barbados to host beauty pageant for young women with disabilities

San Juan, Jan 7 (EFE).- The government of Barbados will host a beauty pageant for young women with physical disabilities “to showcase their inner and outer beauty.”

The Shine like a Diamond pageant will be held at the Hilton Barbados on March 22, the special envoy for persons with disabilities at the National Disabilities Unit, Roslyn Hurley, said in a statement Wednesday.

The pageant is calling for applications from young women between the ages of 18 and 25.

The candidates selected for the pageant will be evaluated in four categories: casual wear, evening wear, talent and question and answer.

Last November, Hurley told the press that she expected the pageant would transcend Barbados to the Caribbean.
