President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Trinidad-based Massy group of companies, Gervase Warner speaking at the launch of the Massy brand in Guyana.

The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Trinidad-based Massy group of companies, Gervase Warner has some harsh-words about the business-friendliness of the 15-nation Caribbean Community (Caricom).

Warner says Caricom’s challenges for the region’s businesses include the absence of harmonized business regulations, reporting standards and other requirements.

The CEO, who was in Guyana for the launch of the re-branded Massy Group and the opening of a US$10 million distribution facility, also expressed concern about non-tariff barriers such as labeling that are choking the free movement of goods across the Single Market.

Warner wants those barriers removed and  a common set of product standards put in place for products produced in the region.
