President Donald Ramotar

In the Wednesday edition of Caribbean Newsdesk, President Donald Ramotar says a tape in which Attorney General, Anil Nandlall was heard talking about the vulnerability of Kaieteur News to being attacked by armed persons was not edited.

The opposition Working People’s Alliance (WPA) and A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) have called for Nandlall’s removal.

Ramotar, however, says remarks by his Principal Legal Adviser were taken out of context. The Guyanese leader, however, insisted that the recording was done illegally. Nandlall’s comments were made in a private conversation between him and Kaieteur News reporter, Leonard Gildharie. The newspaper’s publisher, Glen Lall, has since lodged a complaint with the police.
