A 20-year old Brazilian woman was Monday arraigned for allegedly uttering a passport containing forged immigration stamps.

Cassia Santos of 18 Laluni Street, Queenstown, Georgetown pleaded not guilty and was placed on GUY$50,000 bail by Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

The woman returns to court on November 10

The prosecution’s case is that on October 13 at Ogle International Airport, with intent to defraud, she presented one Brazilian passport with two bogus Guyana entry and departure stamps, purporting to show that they were issued at Moleson Creek, knowing them to be false.

Santos told the court that she had given someone her passport to look after but she was unaware that the stamps were false. She added that she had travelled five months ago and was not informed by Guyanese and Surinamese authorities that the immigration stamps were false.
