Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon was Thursday afternoon discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), hours after he was rushed there.

Luncheon complained of feeling unwell while at work at the Office of the President. He was taken to the GPHC-based Caribbean Heart Institute (CHI) by ambulance.

A usually reliable government official told Demerara Waves Online News that  Luncheon was dehydrated. The official said the Cabinet Secretary also has a poor appetite.

Earlier this year,  Luncheon-who is also the Secretary to the Defence Board and the Chairman of the National Insurance Scheme- announced that he is suffering from gastro-intestinal cancer “with some spread to the lung.”

Only a few weeks ago, he further announced that he had delayed demitting office because of the no-confidence motion as he wanted to hit the elections campaign trail for the last time.

Luncheon has been suffering from a severe back aliment as well as problems with his heart.
