A day after Popeyes opened its new branch on Camp Street, robbers struck its first outlet on Vlissengen Road and grabbed GUY$1.1 million.

The robbery occurred at about 10:15 Friday night. Police said two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered the restaurant.

They held up the supervisor, 27-year old Mahendra Persaud, and collected the cash.

Police did not report any arrests.

Popeyes officially opened its second branch on Camp Street Thursday afternoon and began serving the public on Friday.
