Guyanese singer Lisa Punch was Sunday night knocked out from the top seven contestants who will be going forward to the quarter finals of ABC’s Rising Star singing competition after she only mustered 59 percent.

She sang “Girl On Fire”.

Punch barely scraped up four votes from the US West Coast-  California, Oregon, and Washington-  during a replay of the two-hour long programmme at midnight (Guyana Time). Unlike the last occasion, the West Coast’s votes were not enough to push her through.

Although Punch is “going home” from the competition, she has certainly put Guyana on the world map positively and she is likely to catch the attention of music and other entertainment companies.

“You are so charismatic,”  “I love how you fought every single second,” and “She is truly on her zone,” were among the comments made by the judges.

Prior to singing, the producers aired a pre-recorded video of Punch.

“I’m going to keep fighting harder for this dream because I am a fighter. I have been fighting for this dream my whole life. Even now, I’m still fighting.

Since moving  the US with all of her family except her father, she said it has been “tough in New York.” She credited her father with moulding her into whom she has become.

Punch and her father were grateful to Guyanese for their support throughout her appearance on the US network’s show. “Our motto in Guyana is “One People, One Nation, One Destiny and to see that all of Guyana they are living up to that motto- One People, One Nation, One Destiny- is amazing,” she said.
