Man charged for alleged abduction of ex-girlfriend to city hotel

A man, who allegedly attempted to force his ex- girlfriend to go to a city hotel, on Thursday pleaded not guilty and was released on GUY$350,000 bail.

Mark Bhikari,28, also has to report to the Criminal Investigations Department every Friday until his return to court on July 4. Defence Lawyer, George Thomas said the accused was willing to have no contact with the woman and  he would comply with the court’s instruction that he report to the police.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry , he denied that he abducted Vashti Sukhdeo by forcibly compelling her to go with him from Water Street into motor car HC 1851.

The court was told that Bhikari of Enmore, East Coast Demerara stopped the taxi and allegedly held the woman’s hand, forcing her to go to K&VC Hotel with him.

When the woman attempted to escape, the taxi driver drove the car to Police Headquarters, Eve Leary where a report was made at the Criminal Investigations Department.
