US-registered plane encounters engine problem before landing

A United States (US)- registered plane developed engine problems moments before landing at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), forcing authorities to activate emergency systems, a senior official said.

The official said the pilot of the Cessna Citation, bearing registration number N501TB, reportedly developed an “engine problem” about six minutes before landing at the CJIA.

Demerara Waves Online News was told that the plane, which frequents Guyana, developed an engine failure.

After the Control Tower was informed, fire fighters and other emergency systems were deployed but did not go into action because the aircraft landed safely shortly after 4 PM.

The aircraft is here on an unscheduled flight, the official of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said.
