Guyana’s mining and construction sectors are now poised to benefit from lower fuel consumption hydraulic excavators.

They are being supplied by Machinery Corporation of Guyana (MARCORP) Guyana  Limited.  Company officials stressed the greater fuel efficiency of the new D2 series hydraulic excavators during a demonstration exercise at Providence, East Bank Demerara.

The Government Information Agency (GINA) reported that Prime Minister Samuel Hinds and Public Works  Minister, Robeson Benn witnessed the demonstration.

MACORP’s representatives said that recognising the need for more dependable machines that can produce more with less during operations the company introduced these new D2 series. The machines were touted as reliable and highly productive, built to lower operating costs through reduced fuel consumption and simplified routine maintenance.

Some of the features and benefits of these excavators include a mechanically controlled engine that handles less than standard fuel in a better way and lowers fuel consumption, a powerful hydraulic system, a developed operator station, the largest bucket in its class, and a robust design which is built to provide years of reliable service

The field-proven C7.1 engine is designed for ease of service and can work efficiently at altitudes up to 4,000 meters (13,120 feet). Officials said that compared to its predecessor, the new engine uses approximately 3 to 5 percent less fuel, depending on work mode. An automatic engine-speed control lowers engine rpm during no-load or light-load conditions to minimise fuel consumption.

MACORP, the only authorised dealer for Caterpillar in Guyana was launched 20 years ago and has since been providing world class support and services to cater to its customers’ needs.

The Company says it is confident that the new machines will meet and exceed the customers’ expectations for its superior performance, and operating cost and durability.
