Digicel School’s Football Coaching Clinic kicks off in Lethem

Digicel School’s football tournament is the biggest event of its kind in Guyana. This year preparations for the tournament is already in full swing, the first of a series of coaching clinics was held in Lethem on April 24th-25th at the Tabatinga Ground.

This two day session saw nineteen (19) participants, teachers and community members from Aishalton, Sand Creek, Annai, Mahdia and St. Ignatius being trained by coaches Bryan Joseph and Joseph Wilson of the Guyana Football Coaches Association. “We are keen on ensuring that these participants know what is expected of them on all levels during the matches that will be played in their region, there are strict rules and guidelines, we expect the highest level of professionalism and commitment from our organizers” stated Co-ordinator Lavern Fraser-Thomas.

The format of these coaching sessions are both theoretical and practical and are the first in a series of preparatory works that is being conducting to ensure all parties involved are totally equipped and are ready for this year’s tournament. Several of these coaching sessions are planned for regions one, two and five.
