Update: Security guard kills drug addict over Ipod, phone

A man believed to be a drug addict was Thursday night allegedly stabbed to death after he stole the property of a security guard.

The incident occurred on Quamina Street between Thomas and Camp Streets, Georgetown.

Relatives identified him as 40 year old Nige‎l Lawson of Camp Street, Georgetown next to Ambience Restaurant. He survived by his 14-year old daughter and her mother both of whom live in Venezuela.

The alleged assailant was moments later arrested by police. 

Police said that investigations have so far have revealed that a Security Guard on duty at a residence in Quamina Street, had left his IPod and cell phone on a chair in front of the building while making checks around.

On his return to the front the guard saw Lawson leaving the compound and his IPod and cell phone missing. Police  said the guard confronted the man and an argument ensued which developed into an altercation and during which Lawson was stabbed. The IPod and cell phone was retrieved fromLawson by the security guard, police added.
