A pork knocker who allegedly decided to burglarize a miner’s store at Mahdia and a steal more than quarter million dollars’ worth of jewellery was Wednesday remanded to prison.

The case against 25 year old Peter Giddings of Kwakwani Park was transferred to Mahdia Court for July 14.

City Magistrate, Ann Mc Lennan refused Giddings bail after the prosecutor, Dinero Jones, told the court that Giddings has three other pending charges of a similar nature.

The court was told that Giddings allegedly entered Miner’s Choice Hardware Store and stole one old and diamond ring valued UY$266,00 property of Gordon Durant.

Jones said Durant, who is the general manager of the store, had taken off his ring, secured his premises and before going to Roger Hinds’ Poolside. The virtual complainant said that when he returned he noticed the southern window opened and checks revealed that the ring was missing.
