Two Jamaicans who allegedly attempted to import almost 30 kilogrammes of  marijuana to Guyana by air were Monday arrested at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), police said.

“The man and woman have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations,” a Guyana Police Force spokesman said in a statement.

The two were arrested by Narcotics Police about 7 AM after searches on their baggage revealed that they contained 28 kilogrammes of compressed marijuana.
