Easter Sunday fire stems from domestic dispute

It is turning out to be a fiery Easter, with two houses having been destroyed on Easter Sunday. 

In the first one, a visually impaired man was rescued from his burning house at 12th Street, Dazell Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara. That fire occurred about 4 AM.

Eyewitnesses said Roy Maynard, who is a former Foreign Language Teacher at St. Stanislaus College, was not injured. He is said to be in his 50s.

dazzell fireFire also struck at 2927 Layou Street, North Ruimveldt where a couple lived. Neighbours said Jennifer Paddy and her husband fought earlier Sunday morning in the house where she left him behind.

Investigators have learnt that the fire was set at three different locations in the top flat of the wooden and concrete house.

The Easter Sunday morning fires followed one at Nabaclis where suspected arson left a pregnant woman and her four children homeless.
