Policeman charged with felonious wounding

A policeman was Tuesday arraigned for allegedly wounding a man when his service revolver discharged a round.

Lance Corporal, Atlyn Brown, who is attached to the Brickdam Impact Base, was granted GUY$250,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty to the charge. 

He is accused of feloniously wounding Maurice Porter on October 18, 2013 at Craig Street, Campbelville, Georgetown with intent to  maim, disfigure or inflict grievous bodily harm.

The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, agreed that the accused could lodge the transport for his house as a form of surety.

He has to return to court on April 30 by which time statements would be prepared.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant did not object to bail being granted to Brown who has been a policeman for the past 15 years.
