Two men charged with breaking and entering Guyana Stores and stealing several items valued at GUY$3.8 million were Thursday placed on a total of GUY$600,000 bail.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry granted taxi driver Troy Harris and Adrian Daley their pre-trial liberty shortly after they were arraigned and pleaded not guilty to break and enter and larceny.

They have been ordered to return to court on April 2.

Police accused Harris of 548 B Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, and Daley of 198 Charlotte Street, Georgetown of committing the offence between February 22 and 25, 2013.

They allegedly broke and enter Guyana Stores Limited, Home Furnishing Department, Water Street and stole several valued GUY$3,825,840. The items include 19 Flat Screen Television set, nine DVD Players and two Microwaves.

Police Prosecutor Michael Grant said that about 2:30 PM on February 22, the Manager of Guyana Stores Limited secured the Home Furnishing Department. However, on February 25 he and staffers found that the padlock was cut off and the items were missing.

Investigators went to a house at South Ruimveldt Gardens where they managed to apprehend two of five persons and reover several of the items that belonged to Guyana Stores.
