Police raid Kitty shops, seize alcoholic beverages, charge owners

Cases of beer seized by police on Station Street, Kitty

One of two owners of  business places on Station Street, Kitty  on Thursday pleaded guilty to selling spirituous drinks without a licence and he would be sentenced on Friday.

The seizures of the alcoholic beverages were made on Wednesday.

Thirty-one year old Savita Sattaur, who is the owner of Liquid Love Bar, was placed on her own recognisance after she pleaded not guilty to two charges.

Police accused her of having at her business place Guinness, Stag beer, Corona beer, Banks beer, Heineken Beer and Mackeson for sale without obtaining a liquor licence.

Sattuar was also charged with being the occupier of a shop at 12 Station Street, Kitty which was not licensed to sell malt or wine. She has to return to court on February 26.

Ravindra Samaroo of 52 Station Street, Kitty pleaded guilty to having a quantity of Guinness, Stag beer , Banks beer and Mackeson for sale at his business place without being the holder of a liquid licence.
